The game features multiple characters that you can choose from at the beginning of each game and each has different special abilities. The combination of extremely fast gameplay super smooth movement mechanics and weapon customization makes this an extremely refreshing take on the battle royale genre.
Apex Legends clearly had little to no promotion leading up to the release on Monday 2/4/2019. Respawn Entertainment however, clearly spared no expense in partnering with large streamers to promote the game from release and moving forward, as you can see based on the numbers on Twitch.
Is Apex Legends going to be the game that takes over as the largest game in the world from Fortnite? Not at this point, no, since Apex Legends does not currently have crossplay capabilities.
